About The Coffee Pilgrim

So much more than a drink!

My obsession with coffee began during my former career as a cricketer. It was a luxury I could not afford whilst trying to break into the professional game.  I signed a contract with Surrey County Cricket Club in 2009 and finally with some coins in my pocket I began visiting coffee shops  to read my books. I felt like a king!

Now a northerner living down south, I found that London’s independent coffee houses provided the perfect way to explore this vast and vibrant city. The high streets bored me.

My pilgramage for good coffee has been a gateway to finding amazing art and architeture and inspirational people. Nothing beats the romanticism of getting lost and coming across hidden treasures.

Fighting high rents and competing with multinational chains,  independent coffee shop owners have created a vast range of unique and beautiful venues often on shoe string budgets. I am inspired by their stories, resourcefulness and their passion for their craft.

Now my cricket boots are hung up I turn my attention to opening my own independent coffee shop. These are my caffeine filled adventures as I turn another dream into reality.
